HSAP
High School Apprenticeship Program (HSAP)
HSAP offers students the chance to begin their apprenticeship while still in high school, combining:
- Paid, part-time work experience to compliment regular high school education
- Earning up to 8 additional 40S credits for graduation outside of the school day
- Higher pay rates (potentially 10% above minimum wage)
- Work experience that transitions seamlessly into full-time apprenticeship training
- Students are trained on the job by a qualified trades person
Getting Started in HSAP
Meet the Requirements
- A student needs to get a job in an eligible trade.
- A student must be 16 years of age (15 in the cook trade).
- A student must have an apprenticeship agreement with their employer and school.
- An employer must have Workers Compensation Insurance.
- An employer and apprentice must complete HSAP safety requirements.
- Parent/guardian permission must be granted.
