HSAP

High School Apprenticeship Program (HSAP)

HSAP offers students the chance to begin their apprenticeship while still in high school, combining:

  • Paid, part-time work experience to compliment regular high school education
  • Earning up to 8 additional 40S credits for graduation outside of the school day
  • Higher pay rates (potentially 10% above minimum wage)
  • Work experience that transitions seamlessly into full-time apprenticeship training
  • Students are trained on the job by a qualified trades person

 

Getting Started in HSAP

Meet the Requirements

  • A student needs to get a job in an eligible trade.
  • A student must be 16 years of age (15 in the cook trade).
  • A student must have an apprenticeship agreement with their employer and school.
  • An employer must have Workers Compensation Insurance.
  • An employer and apprentice must complete HSAP safety requirements.
  • Parent/guardian permission must be granted.
