French Immersion

French Immersion is a program that is designed for families that do not speak French and is based on a universal immersion model. Qualified instructors deliver the program curriculum in an activity based, language oriented environment. At the high school level various subjects are taught in French following the Manitoba curriculum so that students cover the same material whether learning in English or French.

The French Immersion program at SVRSS is offered through the Collabaunord Consortium.  This is a partnership between the school divisions of Flin Flon, The Pas, Swan Valley and Dauphin to provide French programming at the High School Level for the French Immersion Diploma or the CPF Manitoba French Immersion Certificate.

Each community has one French Immersion teacher plus a video lab that receives instruction.  Through advances in technology, our students are taught by a teacher in their own school or by a teacher of the consortium schools.  The video lab has an EA in the classroom to provide support to the students and program.  Each student can phone, fax, email or speak directly to their teacher, via the system, should they have questions.

It is an opportunity for students and teachers to work together in order and enhance French Programming in rural Manitoba.
